Objective: It is To observe the anesthetic effect of compound lidocaine cream in subgingival scaling and root planning that analyzes the correlation among gender, age, depth of periodontal pocket, tooth position, dental anxiety and anesthetic effect,so as to provide basis reference to for the measures of reducing pain in periodental non-surgical treatment. Methods: 56 patients who would undergo periodontal initial treatment in the Department of Stomatology, the First Affiliated Hospital of University were selected and enrolled into a randomization. There were trials by patient's left-right side in denture and self-control one week after completing the periodontal prevention plan(including oral hygiene instruction and repeated supragingival professional tooth cleaning).Examiner A recorded the general information of the patients, including gender, age, tooth position, dental anxiety, periodontal pocket depth(PD)and clinical attachment loss(AL)before treatment(baseline)and THE ONES(PD AND AL)6weeks after treatment. Before subgingival scaling and root planing, lidocaine cream or placebo(Vaseline)were randomly placed in the right(first and fourth quadrant)periodontal pocket ? 4mm with the applicator, and lidocaine cream or placebo were placedentered the left quadrant one week later. The lidocaine cream group was recorded as the experimental group and the placebo group as the control group.Visual analogue scale(VAS)and verbal rating scale(VRS)were used to assess the pain after each tooth SRP treatment and after each SRP treatment. The data was sorted out and statistical analysis was performed. Results: 1.There was no significant difference in the depth of periodontal pocket and attachment loss in the experimental group and the control group before and six weeks after treatment(P > 0.05);there was no significant difference in the depth of periodontal pocket and attachment loss between the experimental group and the control group after treatment(P > 0.05).2.Spearman correlation method was used to analyze the correlation between VAS and VRS.The results showed that there was a strong correlation between VAS and VRS(r > 0.5).3.There was a significant difference in VAS score between the experimental group and the control group(P < 0.05),and the VAS value of the experimental side was significantly lower than that of the control side;there was a significant difference in VRS between the experimental side and the control side(P < 0.05),and the VRS of the experimental side was lower than that of the control side.4.According to the VAS difference between the control side and the experimental side,it was found that there were statistical differences between the control side and the experimental side in terms of age, gender, depth of periodontal pocket and dental anxiety. Conclusion: The application of lidocaine cream does not affect the effect of subgingival scaling and root planning, which has anesthetic effect in in subgingival scaling and root planing. The anesthetic effect of male, periodontal pocket ? 6mm,patients with dental anxiety and young group were better than that of female, patients without dental anxiety and elderly group.
