Tumor Markers In Diagnosis Of Mucous Ovarian Tumor

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of serum tumor markers of mucous ovarian tumors.Methods Clinical data of 128 patients with mucous ovarian tumors,including 52 cases of ovarian mucinous cystadenoma(MCO),36 cases of borderline ovarian mucinous cystadenoma(BOMC)and 40 cases of mucinous ovarian cancer(MOC).The serum levels of tumor markers CA125(Cancer Antigen-125),CA199(Cancer Antigen-199),CEA(Carcinoembryonic antigen),AFP(Aalpha fetoprotein)and HE4(Human epididymis protein)were measured and compared between three groups of mucous ovarian tumors.Results Serum CA125?CA199 level of BOMC group was significantly higher than that in MOC group and MCO group,serum HE4 level of MOC group was significantly higher than that in BOMC group and MCO group,serum CA199 positive value of BOMC group was significantly higher than that in MCO and MOC group(p<0.05).Compared with the two groups in the BOMC group and the MOC group,the CA199 positive value of the BOMC group was significantly higher than that of the MOC group(p<0.05)and AUC was 0.57(95%CI:0.35-0.79,p =0.516)of BOMC and MOC.When the cut-off value of CA199 was 758.65U/ml,its sensitivity was 0.417 and specificity was 0.817.High serum CA125 and CA199 may be associated with recurrence of BOMC,but the values of CA125 and CA199 may not be high at recurrence.For patients with stage FIGO I-II,serum CA125,CEA,AFP,and HE4 do not seem to have any effect on the recurrence of MOC,while high serum CA199 seems to be associated with MOC recurrence,and the CA199 level at the time of recurrence is usually higher than normal.For patients with stage III-IV FIGO,serum CEA,AFP,and HE4 did not seem to have any effect on the recurrence of MOC,while high serum levels of CA125 and CA199 seemed to be associated with MOC recurrence,and the CA125 and CA199 were usually higher than normal at the time of recurrence.Conclusions serum CA125,CA199 and HE4 value have certain diagnostic value for mucinous ovarian tumors.High serum levels of CA199 seem to be associated with stage FIGO I-II MOC recurrence,while high serum levels of CA125 and CA199 seem to be associated with stage FIGO III-IV MOC recurrence.
