Objective: To compare the effects of high-throughput cellulose triacetate membrane(CTA)dialyzer and polysulfone membrane(PS)dialyzer on solute clearance,complement activation and biocompatibility in maintenance hemodialysis patients(MHD).Methods: A total of 60 MHD patients treated in the Second Blood Purification Center of Shengjing Hospital,China Medical university were selected in this study.They were randomly divided into cellulose triacetate membrane group(CTA group)and polysulfone membrane group(PS group),30 cases in each group.Hemodialysis was performed 3times a week for 4h each time for 1 month.The CTA group adopted high-throughput dialyzers with membrane area of 1.5m2 and ultrafiltration coefficient of 30ml/(h*mmHg).The PS group adopted high-throughput dialyzers with membrane area of1.5m2 and ultrafiltration coefficient of 42ml/(h*mmHg).Respectively to observe the clearances of blood urea nitrogen(BUN),creatinine(CR),serum phosphorus(P),beta 2microglobulin(?2-MG),the changes of hemoglobin(Hb),platelets(PLT),white blood cells(WBC),the differences of C-reactive protein(CRP),IgE,complement 3(C3),tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-?)and interleukin-1(IL-1),interleukin – 6(IL-6),at the same time to compare the difference between the two groups before and after dialysis.Results: There was no statistically significant difference in the clearance of BUN,CR and P,?2-MG,Hb,WBC,CRP,C3,TNF-?,IL-1,IL-6 and IgE between the two groups.In PS group,there was transient platelet decline after once dialysis,and there was no platelet decline after 1 month of dialysis in both groups.The platelet rise in CTA group was more obvious than that in PS group.Conclusion: The two dialyzers had the same effect on the clearance of small and medium molecular toxins in uremia,no significant difference in the improvement of anemia,and no difference in biocompatibility.However,the effect of CTA group on platelet was better than that of PS group.
