Objective(1)Understood the demographic and clinical characteristics of pediatric burns in order to reduce the incidence of them;(2)Analyzed the relevant factors affecting the prognosis of pediatric burns in order to increase the cure rate of them. Methods A retrospective analysis of the medical records of 1,737 children with burns from January 2013 to December 2017 in the Department of Burns of the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University, summarized the demographic and clinical characteristics; The rank sum test of multiple groups of independent samples was used to analyze the relevant factors affecting the prognosis of pediatric burns;the log-binominal model was used to analyze the risk factors that affected the unhealed.Results(1)Among 1,737 pediatric burns,66.6% were aged 1-3 years;63.2% were males;26.1% were burned in Summer;81.8% were lived in rural area.(2)Among 1,737 Pediatric burns,75.0% were hydrothermal burns;limb burns were common;57.3% were severe burns;34.1% received pre-hospital treatment;10.0% had complications after admission;dressing was the main treatment;48.5% of the patients were hospitalized for less than 10 days, and the cure rate was 51.1%.(3)Among the 1,737 pediatric burns, there were no statistically significant difference between children of different genders, with or without pre-hospital treatment and prognosis(P> 0.05);However,there were statistically significant difference among different age groups, admission season, region, burn causes, severity of burn, complications, and prognosis(P < 0.05).Log-binominal model regression analysis showed that children aged 1~3 years had a higher cure rate than children aged 7~12(both P <0.05);burned in summer(PR = 0.861,95% CI: 0.690 ~ 1.074),the unhealed rate was higher than that burned in winter;the cure rate of children burned by boiling water was higher than that burned by electric shock and flame(both P <0.05);compared with extra severe burns, the cure rate of moderate and severe burns was higher(both P<0.05);Compared with children with complications, the cure rate was higher in children without complications(P <0.05),and the unhealed rate in rural children(PR = 0.713,95% CI: 0.618 ~ 0.824)was higher than that in urban children.Conclusions(1)Demographic characteristics of pediatric burns: Predominantly in male children aged 1~3 years, summer was the main season, and most of them were lived in rural area.(2)Clinical characteristics of pediatric burns: Hydrothermal fluid was the main cause of patients, limbs were the main burn sites, severe burns were more common, about 1/3 of them received pre-hospital treatment,10.0% of patients were accompanied with complications, mainly treatment was dressing, the cure rate of pediatric burns was51.1%.(3)The main risk factors affected the cure rate: children aged 7~12 years, burned in summer, burned by electric shock and flame, severe burns, with complications and lived in rural area.
