| BackgroundSevere iron deficiency will lead to iron-deficiency anemia, one of the major public health problems worldwide.Iron paiticapates in the transport and exchange of oxygen in the body, and is involved in the formation and maturation of red blood cells.Oral iron supplement is commonly used to treat iron deficiency anemia.Iron supplements such as ferrous sulfate have been thought of low bioavailability and gastrointestinal side effects. The purpose of this study was to establish a rat model of iron deficiency anemia, and to observe the anti-anemic effect of oligopeptide iron chelate, casein peptide iron chelate and whey protein peptide iron chelate.MethodIn this study,90 female weaning Sprague Dawley mice were randomly selected as the control group and fed with a standard diet, while the rest of the rats were fed with iron-deficient diet to generate an IDA rat model.Hemoglobin(Hb)was measured in all rats, and whose Hb<100g/L were determined anemic. The blank control group was group A.In addition, anemic rats were subdivided into six groups with each group consisting of ten rats: model control group(group B),ferrous sulfate group(group C),low-dose marine fish collagen peptide iron chelates group(group D),marine fish collagen peptide iron chelates group(group E),casein peptide iron chelates group(group F),whey protein peptide iron chelates group(group G).Iron supplements were administered every day.The intervention lasted 21 days, during which weight and Hb were measured weekly. After the intervention, anemia and iron deficiency relating indexes were measured in rats, the oxidative stress indexes of the liver were measured, and the pathological sections of liver and intestine were observed.ResultsAt the end of the intervention,Hb and HCT in all intervention groups was higher than that in model control group B(all P<0.05).There was no significant difference in Hb between groups C,E,F and G(P<0.05).The FEP level of group E,F and G was significantly lower than that of group B.The serum ferritin level of group C and group E was significantly higher than that of group B.Fe and Ti BC levels in group C,E,F and G were significantly higher than those in group B.Ui BC levels in all intervention groups were lower than those in group B(all P<0.05).HE staining of the intestinal mucosa in the ferrous sulfate group showed certain damage; The intestinal mucosa tissues in the group E,group F,and group G were slightly damaged, the villi were intact and the glands were normal.ConclusionThis study showed that the oligopeptide iron in Marine fish skin, casein peptide iron and whey protein peptide iron can significantly improve the anemia in rats, and it is possible to take iron supplement orally while avoiding damage to the intestinal tract, which has a good application prospect. |
