| Background: Aethionema armenum Boiss.is a member of the family Brassicaceae,an angiosperm plant with characteristics such as purple flowers,long deep roots,and alternate leaves.This plant is distributed primarily in Turkey and has not been found in China.Most species of the Brassicaceae(Cruciferae)are annual,biennial or perennial herbs.There are a wide variety of cruciferous plants,including some with known bioactivities.Some references indicate that many genera of this family produce kinds of secondary metabolites,such as cardiac glycosides.Many genera of this family can be used as medicines.So,since it is a member of family of Brassicaceae,under the genus,Aethionema,Aethionema armenum might be a potential medicinal herb.But not many researchers reported phytochemistry of this genus let alone this plant.Object: The isolation of new compounds or bioactive compounds from Aethionema armenum and identifying the structure of these compounds is main object of this research.Methods: In this study,liquid-liquid extraction,thin layer chromatography,macroporous resin column chromatography and high-performance liquid chromatography has been applied to isolate compounds from this plant.These procedures allowed the crude sample to be separated into several fractions with somewhat different properties.Each of these fractions was a simpler mixture than the original extract.Further fractionation steps eventually led to the isolation of pure individual compounds.NMR spectrometer,FT-IR,UV-Vis and CD were then used to identify the pure compounds.In structure identification,proton and carbon NMR data and 2D NMR experiments were found to be very useful methods.Different kinds of chromatography column were applied to this study.Result: Six new compounds have isolated from this plant,as well as several known compounds.methyl-6’-(2”O-?-D-glucopyranosylbenzoyl)-2-O-?-D-glucopyransyl-benzoate(T1),2’,7-dehydro-2-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-salicylic acid-6’(2-O-β-D-glucopyranosyloxy)benzoate(T4),6’-(2-methoxybenzoyl)-salicylic acid-2-O-?-D-glucopyranoside(T5),4-hydroxycoumarin-4-?-D-apiofuranosyl-[1 →6]-O-?-D-glucopyranoside(T8),2’,7-dehydro-3’-(2-methoxybenzoyl)-2-O-?-D-glucopyranosylsalicyli-cacid-6’-O-?-D-glucopyranoside(T10).6-(2-methoxybenzoyloxy)-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(4 →6)-β-D-glucopyranose-4-(2-methoxy)-benzoate(T17).Syringin(T6)and β-D-Glucopyranoside-4-[(1E)-3-hydroxy-1-propen-1-yl]-3-methoxyphenyl(T7)are two phenylpropanoids,two flavonoids quercitrin(T2)and afzelin(T3),and compounds T1,T4,T5,T10,T17 all salicylic acid glucoside derivatives.4-hydroxycoumarin-4-?-D-apiofuranosyl-[1 →6]-O-?-D-glucopyranoside(T8)and 4-hydroxycoumarin-4-?-D-glucopyranoside(T9)are coumarins.All of them are glycosides.These compounds were all isolated from this genus for the first time.Six compounds were unreported previously.One only can be found by synthesis.Some of known compounds have previously been reported to have bioactivity. |
