Objective:To study the changes of subfoveal choroidal thickness(SFCT)in diabetic macular edema(DME)patients of different OCT types and its relationship with central foveal thickness(CFT),to further understand the pathogenesis of DME.Methods: A total of 45 patients with 59 eyes were diagnosed with DME in the ophthalmology department of the Affiliated Hospital of Guizhou Medical University from January 2018 to January 2020,and 15 normal people with 30 eyes in the normal group were included in our study.All the subjects were examined by SS OCT(swept source OCT).According to the results of OCT,the patients with DME were divided into three groups: diffuse retinal thickening(DRT),cystoid macular edema(CME)and serous retinal detachment(SRD).Measure the CFT and SFCT values of DME patients and normal groups in each group,and then analyze the changes of SFCT values and the correlation between SFCT and CFT in DME groups.Results: The CFT of DME group was 394.34 ± 101.04 ? m,and the CFT of normal group was 212.50 ± 7.19 ? m.Compared with the CFT values of the two groups,the DME group was significantly thicker and the difference was statistically significant(P = 0.000,P <0.001);the SFCT in DME group was 326.27 ± 74.47?m,and SFCT in normal group was 292.27 ± 23.74?m.The DME group had a thicker SFCT,and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(p = 0.017,p <0.05).The CFT of DME with Different OCT Types(DRT group,CME Group and SRD group)were(363.03 ± 82.15 ? m,395.05 ± 91.34 ? m,486.90 ± 120.72 ? m),the SFCT was(295.80 ± 69.58)? m,(364.34 ± 70.62)? m,(345.35 ± 60.02)? m,respectively.There was no significant correlation between CFT and SFCT in DME patients with Different OCT Types(DRT group: r = 0.231,P = 0.219;CME Group: r = 0.005,P = 0.985;SRD group: r = 0.236,P = 0.511,P > 0.05).Comparison of SFCT of DME with different OCT types: SFCT in CME group was significantly thicker than DRT group,the difference was statistically significant(P <0.001);SRD group was thicker than DRT group,the difference was statistically significant(P <0.05);There was no significant difference in SFCT between CME group and SRD group(P > 0.05).Conclusion: The subfoveal choroidal thickness and central foveal thickness in patients with diabetic macular edema are thicker than that of normal people.There is no correlation between the central foveal thickness and the subfoveal choroidal thickness in diabetic macular edema patients with different OCT types;The subfoveal choroidal thickness of diabetic macular edema with different OCT types is compared with each other: the SFCT of cystoid macular edema group and serous retinal detachment group is thicker than that of diffuse retinal thickening group,which may be related to the pathological changes of DME.
