Objective To manifest the feasibility of rehabilitation exercise based on empowerment theory on patients with upper limb lymphedema after breast cancer surgery,to discuss the influence of empowerment education theory model on the compliance,self-management efficiency, arm circumference length, lymphedema symptoms and quality of life of the patients.Methods1.Literature review and expert correspondence.Through literature review,to understand the health needs of patients with upper extremity lymphedema after breast cancer surgery, and develop a health education draft that is consistent with the rehabilitation exercise of patients. The draft will be consulted by experts, and the expert opinions will be revised and revised to form a final version of the educational program.2.Randomized controlled trial study.Randomized controlled trials were conducted to select patients with upper extremity lymphedema after breast cancer. They were randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group was given rehabilitation exercise based on the empowerment theory, and the control group was given regular education.SPSS 21.0 was used for statistical analysis and the count data was expressed in the form of mean plus or minus standard deviation((?)±S),and the measurement data was expressed in the form of rate(%).When the two sets of measurement data meet the normal distribution and the variance is equal, two independent sample t-test was used. When the normal distribution or variance was not met,the rank sum test was used. The count data was tested by chi-square test.Results1.A total of 62 cases were collected in this study,31 in the experimental group and 31 in the control group. The subjects in the two groups were all females. The age of the experimental group was(57.74±10.74)years old,and the age of the control group was(54.84±9.95)years old,P>0.05.There was no statistical difference between the two groups. There was no statistical difference(P>0.05).2.Four weeks after the intervention,in the compliance of functional exercise, the experimental group was(50.68±3.5)and the control group was(47.29±2.81),P<0.01;In terms of disease self-management efficacy, the experimental group was(93.35 ±6.13)points,the control group was(88.61±4.65)points,P<0.01;in the measurement of arm circumference, the experimental group was(1.72±0.56)cm,the control group was(1.62±0.48)cm,P=0.441;In terms of lymphedema symptom index, the number of symptoms in the experimental group was4.00(3.00,4.00),the control group was4.00(3.00,4.00),P=0.287;In terms of the symptom severity, experimental group was9.00(8.00,10.00),and the control group was 9.00(8.00,10.00)P < 0.01;In terms of symptomatic distress, experimentalt group was 19.00(17.00,21.00)points,control group was 24.00(23.00,26.00)points,P = 0.000;in terms of quality of life, the experimental group was(98.90±4.54),the control group was(92.77±4.81)points,P<0.01.3.Twelve weeks after the intervention,in the compliance of the functional exercise, the experimental group was(51.33±2.89)points and the control group was(46.42±2.99)points,P<0.01.In terms of disease self-management efficacy, the experimental group was(94.13±5.74)points,the control group was(87.61±4.52)points,P<0.01;in the measurement of arm circumference, the experimental group was(1.71±0.54)cm,the control group was(1.98±0.46)cm,P=0.042;In terms of lymphedema symptom index, the number of symptoms in the experimental group was 3.00(2.00,4.00),the control group was 5.00(4.00,6.00),P = 0.000;In terms of the symptom severity, experimental group was 8.00(7.00,9.00),and the control group was 11.00(10.00,11.00),P = 0.000;In terms of symptomatic distress, experimental group was 17.00(15.00,20.00)points,control group was28.00(25.00,30.00)points,P = 0.000;in terms of quality of life, the experimental group was(103.31±4.04),the control group was(93.77±3.74)points,P<0.01.Conclusion The rehabilitation exercise based on the empowerment theory was applied to patients with upper limb lymphedema after breast cancer surgery, which helped patients improve their compliance and self-management efficacy, maintain the circumference of the arm, reduce the symptoms of lymphedema and improve the quality of life of the patients.
