| Objective: To compare the clinical efficacy of Percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy(PELD)and electro-acupuncture at Huatuo Jiaji points in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation, and evaluate the effection on pain intensity, activity function and QOL of two methods. It provides a reference for the treatment options of lumbar disc herniation. Methods : In this study,122 patients diagnosed as lumbar disc herniation with indications of intervertebral foraminal microsurgery were admitted to the orthopaedics and traumatology ward of Shanghai hospital of TCM,whom met the diagnostic criteria and clinical study inclusion criteria and were followed up on time. The 122 patiens are prospectively randomized into 61 patients in the surgical group and 61 patients in the Electro-acupuncture of Huatuo Jiaji group.Patients in the operation group were given PELD while electro-acupuncture group was given the electro-acupuncture on the responsible level.ODI score,The Short Form(36)Health Survey,VAS score and straight leg elevation test score are calculated pre-and post-treatment period(1 month,3 months,6 months,1year)to evaluate the efficacy of two different treatments.SPSS 21.0 statistical software was used for statistical analysis to compare the short-term and long-term efficacy of the two treatment methods. Results: The O DI score,The Short Form(36)Health Survey,VAS score, and straight leg elevation test scores of the scales before and after treatment were statistically significant.(P <0.005).The ODI score,The Short Form(36)Health Survey,VAS score, and straight leg elevation test scores of the scales of surgical group at 1 month post-treatment comparing with the Electro-acupuncture of Huatuo Jiaji group are significantly different with statistical significance(P <0.05).The ODI score,The Short Form(36)Health Survey,VAS score, and straight leg elevation test scores of the scales of surgical group at 3month post-treatment comparing with the Electro-acupuncture of Huatuo Jiaji group still prove a statistical significance(P <0.05).The Short Form(36)Health Survey and straight leg elevation test scores at 6 month post-treatment comparing with the Electro-acupuncture of Huatuo Jiaji group are significantly different, with statistical significance(P <0.05)while The ODI score and VAS score are not.All the four scores of the scales of surgical group comparing with the Electro-acupuncture of Huatuo Jiaji group does not prove a statistical significance(P >0.05)at 1 year post-treatment.Conclusions: 1.Both PELD and Electro-acupuncture group treatment have significant efficacy on ODI score,The Short Form(36)Health Survey,VAS score and straight leg elevation test score.(P <0.005).2.The short-term curative effect of PELD group is better than Electro-acupuncture group, and the QOL of the patients is improved. But no significant difference is observed on long-term between two groups(P>0.05)3.This study provides a reference for the treatment options of lumbar disc herniation,Howeer larger clinical sample study and longer postoperative follow-up are stilled neened to demonstrate the reliability of the conclusion. |
