The movie magazine is not only a "non-image date"for movie studies but also an important carrier for culture communication in the process of social development.This paper concentrates on the covers of Popular Cinema magazine,which published since 1950.It explores aesthetic paradigm and discourse position,witnesses the film journal as well as social and culture in the broader context of culture history and the visual history.Specifically,since the popular movie magazine founded,it includes at least three aesthetic paradigm named political aesthetic paradigm,Visual aesthetic paradigm and Consumption aesthetic paradigm.which are based on the different discourse position.Therefor,this paper includes six part which includes the Studies review,conclusion and the chapter.First of all,Studies review outlines the background and the significance of this paper,summarizes the research results of predecessors,and stateds the research ideas and meteods in this paper.The frist chapter explores the complex relationship between aesthetic paradigm and discourse position at the macro context.It defines what is the " aesthetic paradigm ",The tipical significance of aesthetic paradigm in the contemporary culture and to illustrate the aesthetic paradigm and discourse position.To derive the Popular Cinema as a case study reveals the relationship between them which represents the different historical context.Next,The second chapter to the fourth chapter discusses specially.The second chapter:" Political of aesthetic paradigm and discourse position ".This chapter discusses the aesthetic paradigm and discourse position of the Popular Cinema which founded from the beginning to the end of the cultural revolution.The political discourse is the dominant during this period.The thrid chapter." Visual aesthetic paradigm and discourse position ".In this period,with the deepening of reform and openning up,the rapid development of mraket economy.China's politics,economy,culture has an unprecedented development.Visual culture becomes an important part of aesthetic culture.Image has become the main channels of receiving information.This period of Popular Cinema followed visual trend,so it presents a special paradigm——Visual aesthetic paradigm.The second part reveals the game between the mainstream discourse,elite discourse and the market discourse which has created a unique aesthetic paradigm.The last chapter:Consumption aesthetic paradigm and discourse position.It based on the magazine which develops in the new century.It explores the dominated aesthetic paradigm and discourse position.It can be said,Since the new century,China's political,economic and culture towards a new stage.At the same time,the market follows the principle of " production and consumption ".With the consumption development,the aesthetic cultrue closes to it.Popular Cinema breakthroughs new ideas,explores new methods,improves new concept in order to has a place in market competition.Consumption aesthetic paradigm is the dominant.The economic discourse play an important role in this period.It mainly presentes through advertising.The mass not only consume the goods,the symbole but also consume the worship of consumerism culture.Conclusion of the full text are summary.The aesthetic paradigm is established on the basis of the power discourse which is gaming costantly.
