The Study On The Confucianism In The View Of Song Dynasty Monks

Using the Confucianism of Song Dynasty monks as the theme,this master's thesis selects the Confucianism of Gu Shan Zhi Yuan,Ming Jiao Qi Song,Hui Hong chan master,Zong Gao chan master as the object of case studies,aiming for showing the overall appearance,characteristics and significance of the Confucianism in Song Dynasty monks' view.The full text is divided into five chapters as follow:The first chapter focused on the Confucianism of Gu Shan Zhi Yuan,including the aspects of the purpose of Confucianism,the metaphysics of Confucianism and practice aspect.In the first part,Zhiyuan combined the "Confession" of Buddhism and "Introspection" and "self-correction" of Confucianism.Zhi Yuan used the changed and unchanged heart-mind to reconstruct Confucian concepts of Zhong yong and Tianli,resulting in emphasizing their metaphysical significance.Second,Zhi Yuan turned the key point of Confucianism from "Rites" to "Ren",and then spoke highly of "Ren" in the aspect of the division of moral person and non moral person as well as the aspect of the consistency theory about morality and happiness.The second chapter focused on the Confucianism of Ming Jiao Qi Song,including the aspects of Metaphysics and Ethics of Confucianism.In the first part,Qi Song constructed a Confucian Metaphysical theory with "Zhong yong",relating to the body,effect and condition of "Zhong yong" as well as the interpretation of "Xing" and"Qing".Second,Qi Song constructed a Confucian Ethical theory with "Filial piety "as the core,in which he took the Confucian Filial piety as the empirical one.And then he eliminated the contradiction between Buddhist precepts and Confucian Filial piety by virtue of the relationship of metaphysical and under metaphysical in the "Filial piety-Good-Buddhist precepts" pattern.Besides,the metaphysical aspect of Filial piety had been also discussed in terms of the "Dao-Good-Filial piety" pattern.The third chapter focused on the Confucianism of Hui Hong chan master,including the aspects of the overview of Confucianism,Confucian ethics and Zhou Yi.In the first part,Hui Hong,form the viewpoint of "Xing-Words" relationship,divided Confucianism into two parts.The Confucius Confucianism had infinite potential possibilities,while the later Confucianism was finite and objective.Second,Hui Hong pointed out the constraint and normalization of "filial piety".And then he put "Filial piety" in the relationship of "Filial piety-Kindness",aiming for showing the infinite potential possibilities of Confucian "Filial piety".Also,he discussed the loyalty in Confucianism and deepened the Confucian Concept of Similar Type Induction.Third,Hui Hong,based on the original meaning of Zhouyi,developed the Buddhism belief and infinite potential possibilities in Gen Gua.The Forth chapter focused on the Confucianism of Zong Gao chan master,including the aspects of Confucian origin theory,culti-vation theory and ethical theory.In the first part,Zong Gao criticized the division of "Wei Xue" and "Wei Dao" in virtue of the proposition that“Wei Xue is same as Wei Dao".This was based on the reconstruction of Confucian origin with the help of the realm of human consciousness.Second,Zong Gao advocated the proposition that "Confucianism puts correcting the heart-mind in the first place".The cultivation methods advocated by Zong Gao,however,was actually aiming for the human consciousness in Buddhism,rather than the pure methods belonging to Confucianism.Third,Zong Gao took Good and Evil as human nature.And then he put forward the proposition that "the Bodhichitta is Loyal Heart-Mind",aiming for reconstructing the Confucian Ethics through the Chan Buddhism.The Fifth chapter focused on the overall review of Confucianism of Song Dynasty monks,including the influence on the development of Buddhism and Confucianism of Song Dynasty,and some relevant problems.To be specific,due to the influence of the monks' views,the Buddhism of Song focused on the secular society,the coincidence with specific ethical situations and the application of specific methods.Meanwhile,the Confucianism of Song Dynasty also had been developed in three ways,namely the emergence of the metaphysical aspect,the deeper perfection of oneself and the self-cultivation methods combined with Zen and Awareness.Besides,three problems,the sinicizing of Buddhism,the main problem of Song Buddhism and the relationship between Confucianism and Buddhism in Song Dynasty.
