The Influence Of Different Music Conditions On Drivers’ Vigilance

The study based on the review of the past theoretical and empirical research about impact of music on the drivers’ vigilance.In order to achieve the goals,this research used eye movement technique to analyze the 39 drivers’ eye movement data who have little driving experience.This paper consisted of two parts.Study 1 explores the effect of music on drivers’ vigilance under monotonous road conditions,by using a 2×2 two-factor randomized experimental design.The two independent factors both have two operational levels.Study 2 explores the effect of music on drivers’ vigilance under complex road conditions,by using a 2×2 two-factor randomized experimental design.The two independent factors both have two operational levels.The following are the conclusions:1.Fast-paced music can improved drivers ‘ physiological arousal,but it’s not good for driving safety in the simple traffic condition.So from the safety point of view,divers listening slow-paced music have higher vigilance than listening fast-paced music.2.In the simple traffic condition,drivers listening large volume music have higher vigilance than listening low volume music.3.In the complex traffic condition,low volume and slow-paced music can improve drivers’ vigilance.
