Visualization In Note Taking Of Consecutive Tourism Interpreting

Note taking plays a vital role in consecutive interpreting due to the limitation of the short-term memory capacity of the human brain.Compared with other types of interpreting materials,tourism English is much more challenging with difficulties caused by cultural differences,large quantity of information,etc.From the perspective of cognitive linguistics,any language form can trigger cognitive construction activity.Visualization is a vivid cognitive process triggered by key elements of language expression to form related scenes.An empirical experiment focused on CI in tourism English was conducted to investigate the main features of interpreting majors' notes perceived during C-E consecutive interpreting of tourism materials,the relation between interpreting quality and the contents of their notes,as well as the awareness of applying visualization in note taking during the process.This study is designed to explore how to improve the quality of C-E consecutive interpreting of tourism materials by visualizing what the interpreter's input in the process of note-taking.
