Research To Zhou Yang's Early Realism Literary Theory

As the administrator and leader of literary and art circles from 1949 to 1966,Zhou Yang is an important Marxist literary theorist in China.The core of literature and art theory system of Zhou Yang is realistic literary theory which was developed in the early stage of his literary and artistic creation.Therefore,researching the realistic literary theory of Zhou Yang in his early creative period(1929-1937)is of great significance.The paper researches the realistic literary theory of Zhou Yang in his early creative period with four chapters.Chapter one makes a brief introduction to the previous studies from the aspects of source research,content research,comparative research and value research.Through classifying previous studies,the author learns the development trend of Zhou Yang's research in theory of art and literature and finds out weak link and vacancy in the research.Chapter two analyses the time factor in the development of realistic literary theory of Zhou Yang in his early creative period.Specifically,the author illustrates the reason of formation of Zhou Yang's realistic literary theory in early creative period and explains the big social,political and cultural environment from the aspects of social development trend,political ideology division and cultural evolution of China from 1920 to 1930.Chapter three is the development of Zhou Yang's realistic literary theory in early creative period.Zhou Yang,by combining the reality of Chinese revolution and taking public as object,transformed literature into the tool of propagandizing,educating,and saving nation.Aiming at creative practice,Zhou Yang proposed requirement shaping typical image by shifting the concept of Literature Classic.For the purpose of literature politicization,Zhou Yang made romanticism categorization and literature ideologicalization through which he outlined the realistic literary theory.Chapter four is the characteristic of Zhou Yang's realistic literary theory in early creative period.In this chapter,the author researches the characteristic of realistic literary theory which reflected in three debates:literature freedom debate,representative debate and Two Slogan debate.In participating the criticism to free man and the third person,realistic literary theory manifests Only the Class Theory,Party Theory,Political Primacy Theory and literature reality chinization.In the debate with Hu Feng on representative issues,realistic literary theory emphasizes the particularity of representative issue and points out that the particularity is prior to universality and mechanization which created by particularity.In the debate of Two Slogan,realistic literary theory expresses pertinence of the theme,liberalization of the form style and artistically no require.Realistic literary theory of Zhou Yang was formed in his early creative period.The emphasis to the function of political utilitarianism,which had emerged sufficiently in Zhou Yang's early creative period,run through his entire literary career and became the most important part of his realistic literary theory.Literature in a time must bear mission of that time.Reflecting reality and educating public is the manner that literature of every time should attain.However,literature has its own law of development and it cannot be compelled to exist as the appendant of politics.The tendency of mechanization and formulation is embodied in Zhou Yang's early realistic literary theory,and had profound influence for literary creation of that time.The paper,in the way of combining diachronic research and synchronic study,researches the formation and development of Zhou Yang's realistic literary theory in the order of time with the background of international and domestic literature movement and main debate.In the meantime,we could discover the fleeting theory individuality from Zhou Yang's realistic literary theory system and find out the historical origin of Zhou Yang's influence to fifty year's literary creation of China from the formation of framework of his literary theory in early creative period.
