The movie script The Snow Has Not Melted,tells the story of a homosexual love tragedy.In Meiji period of Japan,under the background of Sino Japanese War,a downfallen noble beautiful young gay Hideki,who believed in Buddhism,in order to escape the pursuit of his female wooer Chiyuki,went to a temple to expiate the sins of the war dead with his lover Shinsei.But because of his cowardice and Shinsei's disguise,he caused the death of Chiyuki accidentally.Hideki couldn't forgive Shinsei and himself,and broke up with Shinsei.Finally,he got enlightened in Buddhism,but Shinsei had commited suicide.Hideki therefore abandoned his official position to become a monk.Around the theme of the hero Hideki's inner dread and hesitation,this work takes the love relationship between Hideki and Shinsei as the main clue,the pursuit of Chiyuki as the subordinate clue to unfold the plot,focusing on shaping the fragile,sensitive,withdrawn and introverted Hideki,as well as Shinsei and Chiyuki,who were kindhearted and faithful,and fearless to pursue love.This work shows the hero's disorientation and weakness in emotional world,and deep love between the gays,and also shows Japan's political,military,social,and cultural features of Meiji period,and pays a tribute to three protagonists for their independence,unsecular steadfast faith and noble pursuits.The innovation of the work lies in three aspects:1.It deepens the interpretation of love by the collision of Buddhism philosophy and secular concepts.It raises the general sense of love to a level beyond the somatic,physical and secular realm.2.It deeply understands the history and culture of Japan,goes into Japanese national inner experience,shows the ambiguity and hesitation of Japanese national character:beauty and militarism,courtesy and bellicosity,open mind and conservatism,obedience and rebellion.3.It shapes the unique characters whose values were different from mainstream through the techniques of pressure and action,character arc,suspense and climax.It shows their unsecular virtues of pursuing freedom and aiman.
