Research On Anti-Japanese Memorial Facilities In Shanxi Province

In eight years of Anti-Japanese War,Chinese people has made tremendous sacrifices in order to get national independence.Shanxi Province,due to its special strategic position,became one of the main battlefields to resist the Japanese.Early in the war,Jinsui Army,the Central Army and the Eighth Route Army made so hard struggle together to resist the Japanese that many fighters paid the cost of their blood and lives.After the Battle of Taiyuan,the Eighth Route Army and the "Shanxi New Army" created a wide range of anti-Japanese revolutionary base in Shanxi and continued to fight for the victory.Therefore,in the entire war,countless martyrs shed their blood in the land of Shanxi.Shanxi people and governments in each period have built many memorial facilities to commemorate the "Anti-Japanese martyrs".In order to make further and systematic research on the Anti-Japanese martyrs memorial facilities within Shanxi,the author looks up a large number of archives,local history and related works and papers,and conducts field research,on which the author bases her data analysis and the systematic discussion.This paper is divided into five parts: the first part discusses the status quo and deficiency of research on the anti-Japanese martyrs memorial facilities,and on this basis,the main contents of this paper are briefly introduced;the second part describes the investigation on these memorial facilities within Shanxi Province,then the investigation on the memorial facilities for the Eight Route Army,The Kuomintang Army and the anti-Japanese martyrs who were born in Shanxi are introduced respectively;the third part introduces some major combats which are divied into two periods,during Anti-Japanese War and after the founding of People's Republic of China,then from related regulations,the construction situation as well as the typical memorial facilities,the construction of the Anti-Japanese martyrs memorial facilities is discussed;in the fourth part,these memorial facilities are classified,with their features and social significance expounded;in the fifth part,through the investigation and research on Anti-Japanese martyrs memorial facilities within Shanxi,the author points out the problems existing in protection and repair for the memorial facilities.
