With the fast development of economy and culture,Chinese people are asking for deeper request for mental needs.With enjoying the large amount of treasures,the needs f or health and sports are becoming a social topic.Taking this good chance,the governme nt promotes many social fitness programs including national fitness,sunny sport,square dance,etc.in order to promote the development of spiritual civilization and enhance the people's health.In the development progress of national fitness,the new emerging square dance is be coming more and more popular.A variety of square dances have enriched people's enter tainment life and has become an indispensible part of urban and rural residents' spare-time cultural life.Square dance is a spontaneous fitness activity organized on square with a purpose of fitness,entertainment and dating,and accompanied with music.It is deeply loved by a large amount of people,as it's a simple movement,suitable intensity and live lyrhythm,etc..This thesis uses documents researching and interviewing as the main research metho ds,focusing on the promotion and development of Qingdao square dance.At the basis of the study of the development situation of Qingdao square dance,we can get the following conclusions.1.Qingdao square dance has initially developed an organizing and promoting system,including leading level,coordinating level and operating level.The upper level mainly consists of Qingdao sports bureau and Qingdao cultural centre and they can take their own advantage to organize some promotions to grass roots people in the form of square dan ce.The middle level mainly consists of neighborhood committee and community.The grass roots level mainly consists of social sports instructor,association and clubs which will organize square dance exercise.2.Qingdao square has developed a training system which is led by upper level and supported by sports bureau and cultural centre.Qingdao sports bureau takes the lead in the training of experts and cultural centre promotes the square dance in the grass root,establish the square dance association,organize training to professional square dancer,and hold competition.All of above measures can guarantee the development of Qingdao square dance.3.In the development process of Qingdao square dance,it's featured with local contents and promotion.Qingdao square dance is combined with Jiaozhou Yangge,Maoqiang Liuqiang and social cultural development.Besides,Qingdao people created various styles of square dance,such as Xiao Pingguo,Shan Lihong and Gao Yuanlan,etc which show Qi and Lu culture and provide necessary support for the promotion of Qingdao square.4.In recent years,with orderly development of Qingdao square dance,some problems are revealed and these problems restrict the development of Qingdao square to a certain extent including venues,organizations and instructors,etc..In order to promote square dance to serve the produce and live of enterprise and public institution and increase the number of audience,people should enhance venue construction and standard management of grass root,reinforce people's square dance fitness consciousness by enhancing training and schedule the square dance locally and variously and improve square dance competition.
