Destinyof Popular Literature In The Turning Period

Popular literature which has no right in the literary field didn’t get the attention of Chinese literary world all the time.After the founding of the PRC,popular literature already quitted the literary scene because the new government advocated the literature and art policy to serve politics.Until Chinese reform and openness,popular literature revived again.Due to the need for public reading,popular literature was always the king of literary market sales.However,it is difficult to produce the excellent writers and works owing to be discriminated and neglected.Popular literature has a responsibility to enlighten and influence ordinary people with popular novels.Therefore,it is important to developing the writing level of popular literature.In addition,the key for prosperity of popular literature is the proper evaluation and attention.Liu Yunruo was a famous writer of the social and romantic fiction during the period of the Republic of China.In his works,there is the value of appreciation and research,such as writing techniques of combining between China and Western countries,inheriting and promoting the regional culture of Tianjin,describing the realistic society life,praising and respecting the character of real humanity and so on.And also his works had the value of culturology,folklore,chorography and historiography.However,many writers of literature novels like Liu Yunruo which was deserved to research were not found because of the special literature and art policy.This article attempts to discuss the reason that popular literature disappeared thirty years in the literary world after the founding of the PRC,and from the contradiction between the intervention of ideology and the need for public reading to rethinking this phenomenon,thus revealing the necessity of the existence of popular literature and the importance of improving the research and creation level of popular literature.This essay is divided into four parts which includes introduction,main body,epilogue and references.In the part of introduction,I combed the existing research achievement,put forward the main question that needed to be solved and confirmed the research scope.The main body is divided into three chapters.In the chapter one,I combed the development and evolution of popular literature and introduced the developed process of social and romantic novels as well as Liu Yunruo.In the chapter two,there was the art features and production characteristics of Liu Yunruo’s works which echoed the fate of popular literature.In the chapter three,I mainly discussed irrationality of the blank of popular literature for thirty years and studied the reason of its disappearance and the historical lessons.The conclusion is that the development fracture of popular literature which was intervened by administrative measures is irrational.When we are writing literary history,we should give popular literature a fair judgement and fully research it.This is a premise and assurance to promote the healthy development of popular literature.Moreover,literary history should not contain only the literary works created by the intelligentsia,but the literary history is supposed to become that the intellectual elite literature and popular literature make progress together.
