Since the emergence of communicative approach in 1970 s,grammar teaching has been neglected by some teachers.The implementation of New Curriculum Standards poses a new challenge to grammar teaching.According to the characteristics of teaching material and the requirement for the cultivation of language skills,language points,emotional attitude,learning strategies and cultural awareness based on modern grammar teaching theory,dictogloss is a new method suitable for high school English grammar teaching.Dictogloss is a text-based,task-based and learner-centered teaching method.It aims to help learners to learn,use and master grammar on a text basis.Therefore,the purpose of this study is to examine whether the dictogloss teaching approach will improve students' English learning ability and arouse their interest.This research aims to explore the following questions:(1)Can dictogloss promote the acquisition of grammar?(2)Does the dictogloss task in classroom teaching help to improve students' listening and writing skills? Which skill has been the most significant improvement?(3)What attitudes do the students have toward dictogloss practice? During the experiment process,the author selects two classes of Grade one in No.2 Senior High School of Qin'an in Tianshui.In the experimental class,the dictogloss method is used in English classroom,while the control class adopted the traditional grammar approach.The various data through the pre& post tests,questionnaire survey,group discussion and interview questions were collected by the author and then analyzed by SPSS 23.0 before and after the experiment.As the evidence in t-test indicates,the two groups are homogeneous in their English language proficiency before the experiment.The posttest results show that systematic dictogloss practice helps improve learners' performance on listening comprehension,grammar acquisition and writing ability.Moreover,a qualitative analysis of the discussion and survey also demonstrates that dictogloss helps learners notice both meaning and form and stimulates their learning interests.Most of the students hope to carry out this teaching activity in the future English class.
