A Research Of Rural Social Memory And Cultural Identity

In the development of rural society,the villagers often construct social memory that belongs to the village fate community,and then shape their own identification of cultural concept system of regional space,through the development of rural society the transmission of information and ideas.Through a series of forms of construct social memory in Quyuan Village since the Reform and Opening-up Policy began,such as the oral narrative,ceremonies and activities,national education system and mass media of local villagers,this study discusses the concept of cultural identity shaped by rural social memory and the impact of rural social memory on the development of villages,and draws the conclusion and reflection ultimately from the perspective of communications.The study finds that cultural identity is the reflection of social memory in the development of rural society.Social memory is the source of cultural identity,and cultural identity is the result of social memory chosen by people in the process of historical development.Local villagers describe,practice and forget some social memory to complete the shaping of cultural identity.Under the impact of complex factors such as politics and economy and social environment,the villagers have a strong sense of breakage towards the inheritance of social memory,showing a state of "structural amnesia"."With the disintegration of the rural social structure,the villagers' social memory has been intermittently spread in new ways.The cultural identity of the local villagers is also in a cycle of identity,loss,remodeling and re-recognition.In the development of history,cooperation and conflict between a variety of the way of construction of social memory have become a new part of social memory and cultural identity of local villagers.In the development of Quyuan Village,cultural identity has given local villagers identity,sense of pride and colonial pride and cohesion of the group,which has become an important spiritual support for maintaining the stability and development of the rural human settlements and village fate communities.
