As emotion factors influencing the mathematical performance, mathematics anxiety has its own unique important features.Recently the research about the relationship between math anxiety and numerical representation showed that adults who had high math anxiety showed less accuracy.Studies of math anxiety mainly involve relatively complicated mathematical calculation task situation to investigate the influence of math anxiety on numerical representation. There were few researches focus on the numerical representation performance of different math anxiety individuals. In addition, the relationship between executive function and number processing is very complicated.Executive function affects number processing, but the role of each component differentiated during number processing.Among them, inhibition has the largest effect.Math anxiety has close relationship with central executive, and individuals who have high math anxiety will have poorer performance.Number representation refers to the ability to understand, estimate and compare the size of the number. Then number representation as a kind of number processing, its process will be affected by the executive function. And inhibition is the core in executive function composition. Therefore, suppression for the number of processing inhibition must have a certain influence on number processing. Therefore, there must be a relationship between math anxiety, inhibition, and numerical representation. Then, what's the relationship among math anxiety, inhibition and numerical representation requires we delve into. What relationship on earth among these three variables?Do math anxiety and inhibition suppress same effect on numerical representation?Or how math anxiety and inhibition work together on individual's numerical representation performance? What is the model about these two variables' influence on number representation? All these questions are still wait for being answered.Based on the manipulation of inhibition situation, with the aid of eye movement technique, through four numerical representation tasks,we investigated whether math anxiety, cognitiveinhibition have effect on two types of number representation from the aspects of behavior and physiology.Four tasks were used, including two kinds of tasks with inhibition and another two kinds of tasks without inhibition. The former two tasks were:the digital stroop task and the dot stroop task.Digital stroop task asked participants to compare two Arabic numerals of different sizes, while dot stroop task asked participants to compare two groups of dots of different area. The latter two tasks without inhibition were:digital task and dot task.Digital task asked participants to compare two Arabic numerals which have same size.Dot task asked participants to compare two groups of dots of same area. The results showed that:(1)Inhibition can weaken the individual's numerical representation performance. The presence of inhibition made individuals have poorer performance, which means longer reaction time and higher error rate, increasing fixation times and longer fixation duration;(2)Higher mathematics anxiety individuals are more susceptible to the influence of inhibition.Higher mathematics anxiety individuals' perform weakened greatly under the condition of inhibiting compared with no inhibition condition. And compared with low math anxiety individuals, higher mathematics anxiety individuals under the condition of inhibition performed poorer.(3)Symbol number representation are less susceptible to the effects of cognitive inhibition;(4)For third grade children, symbols representation is more difficult and this is more obvious when representation larger quantity;...
