The Seventh Day is a realist novel written by the Chinese novelist Yu Hua in 2013,and it tells what the hero Yang Fei saw and heard in the seven days after he died,reflecting numerous social problems existing in modern society through Yu Hua's brushstrokes,such as seeking illegal profits by abusing official rights,forced demolition,fierce conflict of police and common people,and medical black market,etc.It is an outstanding novel comprehensively reflecting the social evils in modern society.Under the guidance of Venuti's Translation Theory,the author extracts the first chapter of the Seventh Day for translation practice,and makes a summary and conclusion of the completion performance of this translation practice.Venuti's Translation Theory is one of the most important theories in translation study,which advocates the translation way of focusing on foreignizing strategy with domesticating strategy as the supplement and has been increasingly used in translation practice in recent years,exerting positive influence in various translation fields,especially in fiction translation.In the report,the author will carry on specific cases study bytaking the Seventh Day of Yu Hua's novel as the example.The translation report is divided into seven parts.The first part is the task description,introducingproject description,novel property and the reasons of novel selection;The second part covers task procedure,introducing the whole process of the translation project from translation preparations to the end;The third part contains literature review,introducing the domestic and foreign researches on Venuti's Translation Theory;The fourth part is the detailed introduction to Venuti's Translation Theory;The fifth part is made up of the specific cases analysis under the guidance of Venuti's Translation Theory;The sixth part consists of the difficulties encountered in translation course and its corresponding solutions;The seventh part is the summary of the whole translation project and the author's own understanding.Translation is originally a process full of increasing innovations and constantexploration.This translation practiceis the author's valuable experience,greatly improvingthe comprehensive practical ability.In the future,the author will uphold the rigorous attitude and hardworking as well to seriously treat every translation work.
