To maintain the political and economic stability and promote the development of border areas,Shiliang chieftain system is gradually developed as one of the basic conditions for the proper operation of the country,and it's always under effective control and management since its establishment.Combining Shiliang and Chinese chieftain systems organically,this paper profiles the system evolution throughout Yuan,Ming and Qing Dynasty against the background of the regional development,analyzing the management process over Shiliang chieftain by the central government during the specific historical period.This paper comprises five sections:Chapter One mainly introduces the geographical location and the historical evolution of Shiliang chieftain area while providing a brief description to Wufeng chieftain areas based on the historical materials at first.Titled “ the political system of Shiliang chieftain period”,Chapter Two focuses on the institution status,organization structure,and the inherit system of Shiliang chieftain mechanism under the supervision of the central dynasty,analyzing its military mechanism and how it forged a solid military army based on the relevant data and existing research results.Chapter Three mainly studies the economic conditions of Shiliang chieftain area.Analyzing the internal and external factors affecting its economic development and introducing its primary economic industries based the history data,this chapter details how Shiliang chieftain area evolves frChapter four makes an all-dimensional introduction to the culture of Shiliang chieftain period,covering the fields of religious beliefs,customs and literature and art while analyzing the critical factor of its cultural advancement-its emphasis on absorbing Han culture.om serfdom economy to feudal landlord economy.Chapter five analyzes the influence of the Shiliang chieftain system over the regional ethnic relations between Tu and Han,Tu and other ethnic groups,Tu and central dynasties,and inside Tu itself.After mid-Ming Dynasty,the once isolated Shiliang chieftain area gradually increased its exchange with other ethic groups,and despite the friction,harmony grew increasingly in the process of ethnic fusion.
