Translation Report On How To Provide A Legal Safe Harbor For Mothers Of Unwanted Newborns

This paper is a translation report of English to Chinese,which issued in Journal of Law & Medicine named How to Provide a Legal Safe Harbor for Mothers of Unwanted Newborns.Based on the brief introduction of the translation project and the background of the source text,the analysis is done from the perspective of translation theory by Peter Newmark,the famous English linguist and translator.The author discusses the difficulties and its methods in the process of translation.Peter Newmark also divides the types of text.The legal texts belong to the informative and expressive text.Therefore,the translation method is applicable to the two kinds of translation theories.This paper focuses on the translation of legal terms and the translation of long and difficult sentences.In this report,some typical examples are used to discuss the translation strategies of these sentences.The author hopes that this translation report can make some contributions to the translation of legal texts.
