Jiahu Site is an important Neolithic site in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River and it is rich in cultural connotations.This paper uses stratigraphy,typology,and social archeology to study the settlement remains of the Jiahu site and tries to analysis the function and evolution of them.This article mainly includes four chapters.Chapter 1: summarize the researches of the Jiahu site and divide them into two stages.Point out that this paper intends to conduct a comprehensive study of the remains in the Jiahu site and then explore the social,cultural,and other informations.Chapter 2: divide the settlement remains of the Jiahu site into three phases based on the typology of potteries,meanwhile divide the second phase into two stages.Distinguish between phase ? Jiahu culture and Peiligang culture.Chapter 3: review the research of pits,and focuses on the function and classification of pits.Summarize the special traces existing in the settlement remains of Jiahu site,analysis the function of the pits and identify some pits as houses,cellars,wells and sacred sites.Chapter 4: clarify the importance of settlement remains for understanding prehistoric society.Observe the social condition and evolution in the west area of the Jiahu Site based on the spatial distribution,coming up with the livelihood of the Jiahu Site reached the summit in the second period because of migration,and it declined in the third period.
