Listening ability is a basic language skill.As an important language input skill,listening ability is the basic means of obtaining information and the important guarantee of language communication.For a long time,the teaching mode of college English listening is mostly teacher-centered,and students are basically in the state of passive reception of knowledge,so that students do not actually participate in the listening activities actively and the classroom atmosphere is always boring.While,in fact,English listening teaching should take interaction as the fundamental form of classroom teaching,emphasizing the interactive process of “listening”.Therefore,in order to stimulate students' listening learning motivation and interest as well as to improve their listening level,this paper adopts the interactive teaching approach for experimental research.The so-called interactive teaching approach is a teaching method used to stimulate the initiative of both sides of the teaching and learning in the process of equal exchanges and interaction between them through creating an interactive teaching environment via interactive activities such as role-playing,group discussion,etc.,and then improve students' listening level.This paper intends to explore the interactive teaching approach and its effects on college students' English listening ability by using the method of comparative experiment and questionnaires.This paper mainly proposes two research questions:(1)What effects does the classroom interaction have on stimulating students' inner learning motivation and interest?(2)What effects does the interactive teaching approach have on students' listening performance in listening teaching?Based on the theory of interaction,combined with the input/output hypothesis and other theories,this paper studies the influence of the interactive teaching approach on students' listening level in the form of empirical research.The study lasted one semester and took 75 freshmen majored in chemistry and pharmacy in Zhuhai College of Jilin University as the subjects.The two classes randomly selected were respectively experimental class and controlled class.The average age of students is 18.They come from different provinces of the country and have their own family background and teaching background.They have at least six years of English learning experience before entering the College.The experiment process includes pre-questionnaire survey,post-questionnaire survey,pre-experiment test and post-experiment test.The questionnaire is aimed to compare the changes of students' English listening interest and motivation before and after the test.The pre-test ensures that the listening levels of the two classes are equal and that the lesson hours are equal in the course of the experiment.The post-test is a test of the English listening level after the students were taught with the interactive teaching approach,which aims to check the influence of the interactive teaching method on students' English listening performance and to demonstrate the effects of the empirical interactive teaching approach on listening teaching.SPSS V17.0 software is used to analyze the data of pre-test and post-test.After analyzing the listening scores of the two classes,the differences between the pre-and post-test scores of experimental class and controlled class are compared.The results show that the post-test scores in experimental class are much better than those in controlled class.Through the data analysis of the questionnaire,it is verified that interactive teaching can arouse students' interest and motivation in English listening performance.The results show that: 1.The interactive teaching is beneficial to improve students' listening learning interest and intrinsic motivation.2.The interactive teaching can improve students' listening level.3.By using this teaching method,both students' communicative competence and cooperative ability can be improved.
