Purpose: Spin is one of the most difficult movements in Latin dance, which is an important element in the choreography of high level athletes. The strengthening of spinning ability is one of the core requirements of Chinese athletes to improve their performance. The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of different physical training methods on the spinning ability of Latin dancers. The results will improve the theoretical understanding of the spinning movement, and provide a useful reference for the special physical training of Latin dance. Methods: 20 Latin dancers(10 male and 10 female)were divided into experimental group and control group for 8 weeks of physical training.Core strength training was performed in the experimental group, and the series of movements, such as Russian swivel and supine flexion, were practiced. In the control group, traditional dance physical training was performed, with a series of movements such as sit-ups and side lifts. Before and after the experiment, using QUALYSIS 3D motion capture system on two subjects Latin signature spins, collect their kinematic data, calculation and analysis angular velocity, trunk angle,Y-axis displacement of mid point of shoulders index etc. Results: In forward combination turn, the experimental group maximum angular velocity increased by 2.99 RAD/s,compared with the former test data, they have very significant difference(P < 0.01),and compared with the control group(increased by 1.23 RAD/s),also has the significant difference(P < 0.05);In the experimental group, the Y-axis displacement of the test group was decreased by 51.77 mm on average, which was significantly different from the pre-test data(P<0.01),which was significantly smaller than the control group(9.65mm)(P< 0.05).There was no significant difference between the two groups in trunk angle(P<0.05).There was no significant change in the maximum angular velocity and the number of spin in the two groups(P< 0.05).Conclusion :(1)The evaluation indexes of spin include body vertical degree, speed and travel route.(2)The core training has a positive effect on the improvement of the quality of pivot movement. The speed of the shoulder-hip twist and the body control ability of the spin have beensignificantly enhanced.
