Shao Xunmei's Views Of Literature And Art

Shao Xunmei,the representative poet of aestheticism and the Crescent school,is not only a writer,but also a publisher and translator.In this thesis,Shao Xunmei's viewpoints on literature and art,especially on poetry,narratology and culture are discussed by reviewing his articles scattered among his articles published on newspapers and his works.The first chapter discusses Shao's opinions on poetry.Shao focuses on the "formal personality" of poetry and the "texture" of its language,and "sensuality" is derived from the practice of the theory of "texture".The sliding of a word's meaning and the sensuous experience of language are interfered with the representational crisis of modernity.The second chapter focuses on narrative.Shao pays much attention to the discourse and material of a novel,and focuses on the humor aesthetic of its narrative.Compared his opinions on poetry,Shao's focus has shifted from individual's feelings and text to broad life behind the narrative and the revolution of artistic organization,returning to a rational and organic integrity.The temperance shown by his humorous aesthetics and the persistence of "Aura" in the adaptation is a kind of repair and collection of the fragmented language in the concept of poetry.The third chapter discusses his view on culture.Shao views the "salon" and the press as a public space,in relation to enlightenment,and proposes his pictorial view with three steps of enlightenment.In this stage,Shao's artistic exploration turns from literature to culture,and puts forward with the construction of modernity course which is a kind of"enlightenment".The epilogue part first concludes Shao Xunmei's viewpoints on literature and art in a synchronic way with the following characteristics:focusing on experiences and feelings,the comparison between Chinese and western poetics field of vision,a temperance of "Reinikuikchi”,the unspecialized composition of literary and artistic.Then,through diachronical analysis,this thesis finds that Shao's view of literature and art changes from introversion to extraversion,from individual thoughts to social care,from pioneer experiment to enlightenment public characteristics.Shao Xunmei's literary and artistic viewpints show the spiritual development of a man who has not experienced May 4th Movement.He explores the constructive plan of literary modernity and social modernity in an era of saving the country and revolution.
