Writing skill is an important component of linguistic competence. It has not only drawn the attentions from the language's teachers, but the foreign students as language learners. Most of those foreign students, however, finds writing skills a nut to crack.Indeed, one of the reasons is their flinch from the Chinese characters.Disappointments generated by the disproportionate ratio between input and output while writing in Chinese, which leading to the reluctance of students' learning, also factors in such outcome.Despite the difficulties emerged during the writing process, this skill is a must for foreign students to obtain.Nowadays, theorists in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language(TCFL)have gradually transferred their focuses from teachers to students,or from the way of teaching to the way of learning. The tactics on learning now are drawing more and more attentions.Tactics of writing is an important part to that of learning. It focuses on the competences of writers, such as methods, skills, and mindset. And the study over this issue is of great significance to the bilingual writing. This thesis bases on the theory of process writing, learning tactics, and constructivism.Through the results of questionnaires and interviews, the interviewees, foreign students from Malaysia, were divided into two groups:a group of higher scores and a group of lower scores.By comparing the two groups on writing tactics, this thesis aims at exploring the methods for a better performance on writing. The results of the study show as follow:1.The grades and the tactics of the Malaysian students in middle level are related to each other. The tactics adopted at the post phase of the writing process are more closely related to their performances than that of the pre-phase.2.The comparison between these two groups shows that the students who get higher scores tend to use more tactics at the whole process of writing, which indicates that the writing tactics are a good tool for getting higher scores.3.According to the statistics,at the beginning of the writing process, tactics of recognition is adopted to re-evaluate the subject.Other tactics called mental lexicon by writing down the sparkle words, and the tactics of reviewing,or reading the sample texts written by the native people, are also adopted. All of these tactics are helpful for a better performance in writing.During the writing, following tactics are very helpful:the tactics of meaning simplification can be used for the expression dilemma;the tactics of mental lexicon can be used for a more confident vocabulary and grammar;and at last, the substitution of the native language. At the last phase of writing, tactics of reviewing and modification are often used for a better performance.Based on the results of this thesis, some recommendations have been made for relative training for the TCFL.
