Based on three different semantics of Benefactive Markers, this paper investigates the origin of Benefactive markers in Wu Dialect in terms of Recipient Benefactives,Plain Benefactives, and Deputative Benefactives. The origins of the Wu dialect Benefactive Markers can be divided into four categories:the first is derived from the grammaticalization of the verbs mean "help",mainly used "bang" as Benefactive Markers;the second is from the grammaticalization of the verbs mean "alternative",mainly used"ti" and "dai" as Benefactive Markers;the third category is derived from the grammaticalization of the verbs mean "give",mainly used "bo" and "fen" as Benefactive Markers;the fourth category is derived from the grammaticalization of the prepositions mean "synergistic",mainly used"da" and "tong" as Benefactive Markers.Compared with other dialects,Benefactive Markers in Wu dialect have the characteristics come from the "northern" dialects, but also come from "southern" dialects.Because Benefactive Markers in "northern"dialects area mainly come from the verb mean "give";Benefactive Markers in "southern" dialects area mainly come from the prepositions mean "synergistic".So that these two kinds of Benefactive Markers both exist in Wu dialect. In many dialects of Wu dialect, the verbs mean "give"can evolve into Benefactive Markers, and also can evolve into Passive marks from Causative Markers, both of which can exist in the same dialect.
