A Multi-angle Study Of Definite Discourse Markers

This article follows the characteristics and defining standards of discourse markers,and selects the type of discourse markers as the research object.Definite discourse markers must first have a clear meaning.They are used by speakers in order to explain events clearly and clearly in the course of verbal communication,and in order to accurately express their own subjective attitudes.Secondly,they will not affect the truth value of the topic.There is no syntactic component in the sentence,only the connecting component.In this paper,we select11 definitive discourse markers commonly used in modern Chinese,such as“shuobaile说白了(to be honest)、henxianran很显然(obviously)、dengyushuo等于说(is equivalent to saying)、yijuhua一句话(in a word)”The research method adopts the combination of qualitative and quantitative,and the combination of diachronic and synchronic methods to investigate the clear discourse markers in many aspects.The thesis is divided into four parts: The first part establishes the criteria for determining the definite discourse markers,analyzes the syntactic,semantic,pragmatic and phonetic conditions that the definitive discourse markers meet,and observes the distribution of definite discourse markers.The second part divides the semantic relationship between the terms before and after the explicit discourse markers,and counts its use in the actual context.The third analyzes the pragmatic function of explicit discourse markers,and makes a quantitative analysis of actual usage.The fourth part explores the evolution process and evolution mechanism of explicit discourse markers,and analyzes the reasons for its evolution.The following conclusions were found through research:1.In terms of distribution,explicit discourse markers in discourse location distribution are mainly distributed between clauses,sentence groups and paragraphs.On the distribution of independence,explicit discourse markers tend to be used independently on the whole.2.In terms of the semantic relations of the context,according to the logical relationship between the context of explicit discourse markers,it is divided into five categories:explanatory relationship,causal relationship,purpose relationship,transition relationship and umbrella relationship,among which there are sub-categories.The semantic relationship between the pre-and post-terms of the explicit discourse markers as a whole presents a situation in which the interpretation relationship is the main one,while the purpose relationship and the transition relationship are less.3.In terms of pragmatic functions,the pragmatic functions of explicit discourse markers are mainly divided into three parts: turn-taking function,topic function and interpersonal function.In actual use,the use of turn-turn continuation and topic-continuing functions accounted for a high proportion,while the use of turn-closing and topic ending functions accounted for the least.This is related to the discourse position of explicit discourse markers.4.In terms of evolution and cause analysis,we mainly discuss the evolution process of explicit discourse markers from a synchronic perspective,and find that its evolution is mainly due to high frequency use and language economic principles.The evolution mechanism mainly includes evolution mechanism,generalization mechanism,subjectivity and subjectivization,and re-analysis.The thesis explores the function of explicit discourse in terms of distribution characteristics,semantic relations and pragmatic functions.It is hoped that it can help understand explicit discourse markers,further enrich the research results in the field of discourse markers,and provide references for the field of teaching Chinese as a foreign language..
