Meng Haoran was one of the representative writers of pastoral poetries, which along with his life experiences were somewhat related to Buddhism,in Tang Dynasty.Apart from roaming,he spent most of his life on seclusion in Xiangyang, where he was inestimably influenced by its Buddhist culture and unique landscapes. At the same time he traveled to roammany famous mountains and temples during which he built solid relationship with Buddhists, and all theses experiences made his desire for a Buddhist life stronger. His Buddhist thoughts, impacted by the historical background and his life experiences, were so founded that it's easy to tell from his poetic creation, and even now there are a large number of his Buddhist-pastoral poems exit.Meng Haoran carried on Xie Lingyun, wang Ji and Zhang Yue's philosophy of poetic creation,so he consciously created a lot of pastoral poetries by combining the beauty of nature and the thoughts of Buddhism.Compared to the similar Wang Wei's landscape poetries,Meng's are more likely to show the poet's penetrating comprehension of Buddhism and enriched thoughts. His poetries are plain yet expose evidence of Zen Buddhism that they can't be ignored, and such poetic style has an inseparable relation with Buddhism.
