Study On Dreams In Historical Literature During The Dynasties Before Tang

As a unique physical and mental phenomenon,dream affects all aspects of people's life.Dream is common in human life,which has an indissoluble bond with literature.From Master Zuo's Spring and Autumn Annals?Guoyu in The pre Qin to Shiji,Hanshu in Han Dynasty,and Houhanshu,Romance of the Three Kingdoms.Dream has always served as a valuable narrative tool for authors throughout history.This paper collects those dreams,aiming to explain their literary merit,understand how our ancestors interpret their dreams,and analyzes aesthetic features in historical literature during the period before Tang Dynasty.The first part is an introduction of the dreams in historical literature during the period before Tang Dynasty,Exploring the origin of recording dreams,meanwhile,collecting the dreams in historical literature during the period before Tang Dynasty.The second part analyses the pattern of dreams.The pattern of the dream can be divided for the dream of the indication,the dream of emperor and the dream of retribution.the dream of the indication indicated people's speculating of the connection between dreams and fate.The dream of emperor reveal their destiny as well as depict their images.The dream of retribution have always served as a valuable narrative tool for authors to advise the vicious.The third part tend to analyses people's conception about dream;The last part take Master Zuo's Spring and Autumn Annals,Shiji,Houhanshu for example to analyze aesthetic features in historical literature during the period before Tang Dynasty.
