In English learning,vocabulary accumulation is an important part.However,English educators and learners is always plagued by the effective teaching and learning of vocabulary.In basic education,English vocabulary is simple and easily grasped by students.The junior high school English vocabulary is relatively large in terms of difficulty and vocabulary.Some poorly-based students are prone to lose interest in learning English.Therefore,solving English vocabulary problems is an important task in junior high school.The application of educational technology in teaching is a general trend.Therefore,how to solve these problems by applying educational technology has always been the attention of junior high school English teachers and educational technology researchers.Mind map is a tool that can visualize and organize information.It uses hierarchical division and association to display the relationships between information.Since the process of drawing mind map requires a "brain-wide" synergy,many educational scholars explore the combination of mind map with the teaching of various disciplines to stimulate students' interest in learning and improve the quality of teaching.The paper reviews the historical origin and current state of application of mind maps,especially in the field of education.In the follow-up research process,the paper uses the teacher interview method and student questionnaire to investigate the teaching and learning status.At the same time,the paper gives three kinds of English vocabulary teaching models based on mind map and apply it to English vocabulary teaching in junior high school.In terms of appraisal,through classroom observation,vocabulary test scores and final exam results,the paper compares the different teaching effects of hand-drawn mind map and software-drawn map and the effects of drawing mind map on the development of students' thinking ability.
