A Study On Image Evolution Of The Four Gods In Henan Province

The image of the four gods is one of the earliest subjects in the art of funeral in our country,and its evolvement features are of great significance to the study of the development of the history of ancient Chinese art.Henan unearthed a large number of images of the four gods related remains,the times,self-system,which are an important historical materials to study the theme of the four gods.Through data collection and image analysis,the changes and development of the four gods images in Henan can be divided into three periods: I.From the Western Han Dynasty to the New Mang,the four-god image was produced and widely used in the burial space,which assumed the important function.II.From the Eastern Han Dynasty to the Sui and Tang dynasties for the secularization transformation period,from the grave in the composition element and the space disposition change can obviously see the four gods image from the mysterious to the secular process;III.In the retro period of the Song Dynasty,the image pattern of the four gods was fixed and stylized.The images of the four gods are a part of the tombs which are the products of the general religious thoughts of the society and do not exist independently.Therefore,the relationship between the images and the burial space is constructed through the evolution of the images.The interpretation of how the images of the four gods are selected and how to function can provide a new way of thinking and perspective for understanding the religious beliefs and social and cultural exchanges behind the images.This article will start from each period of the four-god image remains combing,from which to explore the law of the evolution of the four-god image,and then draw a conclusion.Furthermore,it will see Henan as the center of the cultural connotation of the Central Plains while thinking from the image of the four gods..
