The Four Gods,also known as the Four Elephants,namely the Blue Dragon,the White Tiger,the Suzaku and the Xuanwu,are the four animals that the ancestors connected to each place of the seven places,endowed with rich imagination,and made them as a kind of carrying ideas The materialized form of society.These four gods,as the image represents,are Eastern Taurus Dragon,Western White Tiger,Southern Suzaku,Northern Xuanwu(Turtle-Snake Combination),which represent the four directions of East,West,South,North,and are endowed with the change of thought and social form.The meanings of exorcism and evil,town house auspicious and so on.The image of the Four Gods in the Han Dynasty portrait stone is the most common image,and its art form can be spread all over the country.The Han Dynasty was also a period of maturity,development and pinnacle of the images of the Four Gods,which were widely used in palaces,tombs,ceremonial supplies and practical craft utensils.In addition,the images of the four gods,as the materialized carriers of thoughts and concepts,eventually developed into a universal cultural phenomenon,which is the product of the combination of human civilization and natural science derived from the practical experience and knowledge construction.This article will use the multidisciplinary knowledge of art,imaging,psychology,etc.to examine the plastic art of the images of the four gods in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River in the Han Dynasty.At the same time,it draws the influence of image art on society and people's psychological level based on its modeling features and form evolution.Using the knowledge of iconography and psychology,summarize the relationship between the images of the four gods in the Han Dynasty and the social and cultural forms.Focus on the analysis of the sculptural characteristics of the images of the four gods in the Han Dynasty in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River,to confirm their artistic value under the influence of various historical factors,and analyze the similarities and differences between the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River and other regions To find the uniqueness of the images of the four gods in the middle and lower reaches of theYellow River.Combined with the visual form of national culture and the change of social concept,the image features presented by the images of the Four Gods in Han Dynasty are analyzed.Summarize the existing forms of the four-god image system in the Han Dynasty in the study,which are the following six forms: 1.Religious concept;2.Astronomical astrology and orientation concept;3.Han stone mythology theme;4.Specific area;5.Folk ornaments;6.Functional use.
