An Action Research On Hierarchical English Homework Design For High School Students

English homework plays an important role in English teaching and learning.It helps not only students to understand the learning points that have been taught in class,but also a good way for teachers to know students'learning,However,in the past few decades,many researchers have devoted to the creativity of teaching methods,English homework,especially,studies on hierarchical English homework have not attracted enough attention,The layered approach to homework is based on the idea that there are individual ability differences among students,which should be taken accordingly,This approach is an attempt to optimize the traditional homework designing and requirements;it aims at improving the effectiveness of homework for different levels of students(???,2013).It is not conducive to the development of students'language ability,if teachers blindly adopt a“one-size-fits-all”model when they design English hierarchical homework.Therefore,it is necessary to make some changes to the current situation.Action research is a research method which is suitable for education workers.It includes the following steps:planning,action,observation and reflection.This research method is beneficial to the combination of theory and practice and the improvement of teachers'professional judgment and professional development(??,2015).The research aimed to explore how to implement effective hierarchical English homework assignments for high school students.During teaching practice,the author conducted action research on hierarchical homework design in the class with 51 students for 4 months;data collecting,questionnaire survey,interviewing and experimentation were used.The finding indicates that designing hierarchical English homework can help stimulate the students'interest in English,improve their confidence and increase their English test scores.
