With the development of economic globalization,as the most widely used language in the world,the importance of English is increasingly prominent.Our country also attaches great importance to the education of English,and even opens English courses in primary schools.However,due to various factors,many students don't learn English well.Especially after entering high school,as the difficulty of English learning increases,some students become the most troublesome students for teachers.English is an important subject in the college entrance examination.Because of their poor English scores,these students cannot be admitted to the ideal university,which affects the school's graduation rate and their future prospects.Therefore,it is necessary and meaningful to realize the transformation of these students with learning difficulties.The author has been engaged in high school English teaching for five years.Having been troubled by the problem of "learning difficulties",I believe that this problem has also troubled many English teachers.Through reading literature materials,the author learned about vygotsky's sociocultural theory,and learned that since the1980 s,the application of the theory in the study of second language acquisition has gradually become a new direction of academic research and teaching practice,and achieved remarkable results.In view of this,the author will try to use the sociocultural theory to explore the causes of high school students' learning difficulties in English and put forward some transformation strategies.This study aims to bring some confidence and enlightenment to the colleagues who are struggling in the front line in the transformation of students with learning difficulties,so as to better realize the transformation of students with learning difficulties.Two key questions are expected to be addressed in this study: 1)What are the causes for the formation of high school students with English learning difficulties?2)What measures can be taken to help these students to achieve the transformation?The author took 120 students in his school as the research subjects,adopted interview and questionnaire for the investigation,case studies and other methods.Qualitative and quantitative analyses were simultaneously conducted by using Excel and SPSS statistical software to analyze the data.This project was designed to reveal problems,then analyze possible causes for high school students' learning difficulties in English,and ultimately put forward some constructive transformation measures and suggestions.The causes of students with learning difficulties are divided into two categories:internal and external causes.The internal cause includes five aspects: learning foundation,learning motivation,learning confidence,learning willpower and learning habits of students with learning difficulties.The external cause includes five aspects:society,textbooks,schools,teachers and families.According to the causes of students with learning difficulties,combined with the author's own teaching experience,based on the sociocultural theory,the author puts forward some practical and effective transformation strategies.The transformation strategies are illustrated from these three aspects: the teachers,schools and families.They are put forward to stimulate the students' learning motivation and interest in learning,enhance the students' learning confidence,improve students' learning willpower,correct students' learning habits,and consolidate students' learning foundation,hoping to achieve effective transformation effect.Through this research,the author got the most important enlightenment: schools and teachers in the transformation of students with learning difficulties play a very important role.Although the transformation of these student is not easy,as long as we work hard to do it and take the right measures to transform them,the transformation is not impossible.Because the author's level is limited,there are still some shortcomings in this research.But with the author's unremitting efforts,some breakthrough results have been achieved.I hope this research can provide some enlightenment and help to the colleagues in the front line of English education.The next research I want to do is how to maximize the development of the charm of English,so that more students are interested in English and begin to like English,so as to achieve the goal of making students active and happy to learn English.
