This thesis,which is a practice of Chinese comprehensive teaching started from “zi”,is guided by the zi-based theory.The content of the practice is the fifity grade A Chinese characters and vocabularies choseing from Outline of Chinese Vocabulary and Chinese Characters,Learn Chinese with Me,the HSK level 1 and HSK level2 vocabularies.The seventy-eight students from Confucius Institute at Bulacan State University is chosed to be the one to accept the new teching method.And their final grades will be the principle to check if this teaching skill is useful for beginning learner.After one semester testing of two equal class,the final result indicates that the socore of class who accept new method is higher than the other one,and also their vocabularies are more than the other one.This practice shows that it is possible to implement zi-based theory.At the same time,it is helpful for Chinese teaching and Chinese learning to stick on zi-based theory in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Starting with “zi” and starting simpleness to difficulty accord with the rule of studing and psychological acceptance characteristics of learner.According to this teaching practice,“zi-based theory” has the possibility and reality to implement.Meanwhile,there are some shortcomings to obstacle teaching.All the Chinese teacher need to take effort to improve Chinese teaching by using “zi-based theory” better.
