The Influence Of Overseas Dramas On Ding Xilin’s Comedy

In the history of modern Chinese drama,Ding Xilin is the only writer who specializes in comedy writing.Ding Xilin’s comedy creation began in the teaching period of Peking University after returning from the British study.From the comedy works themselves,combined with Ding Xilin’s translation work and his remarks about the creation,it can be seen that the overseas drama had a greater impact on Ding Xilin’s comedy.At the same time,it should also be noted that Ding Xilin’s impact is not mechanized and hard to use,but he has creatively inherited overseas drama resources in the context of the integration of Chinese and Western cultures.From the perspectives of drama mode,comedy language,and drama skills,the influence of overseas drama on Ding Xilin’s comedy creation was explored,and the overseas dramatists,overseas drama works,overseas drama techniques related to Ding Xilin’s comedy creation were selected for comparison.The analysis,on the one hand,explores Ding Xilin’s inheritance of overseas drama resources,and on the other hand,explores Ding Xilin’s creative transformation of overseas drama resources in light of the background of the times and their own experiences.Finally,I explored the artistic features and contributions of Ding Xilin’s comedy under the reference of overseas drama.It is mainly represented by Ding Xilin’s "rational" concept of comedy creation,mild comedy style,humanitarianism embodied in comedy works,and Ding Xilin’s comedy contribution to the development of modern Chinese drama.
