Research And Translation Of Ding Ling’s Life And Works Overseas

In Modern Chinese Literature History,Ding Ling is undoubtedly the more striking one.Her creation in the literature history is controversial,but her experience and fate is legendary.Some scholars believe that Ding Ling’s literary creation and fate,to some extent,reflect the historical process of modern China.Like Lu Xun and Mao Dun,Ding Ling was one of the first Chinese writers to enter the field of vision of overseas scholars.In the last 60 years of Ding Ling’s literary creation,many excellent works have been left,which have been so popular that just published in the country,they will be translated overseas.But these works have also attracted great controversy,and became the excuse to persecute her in the "anti-right movement" period.After that,Ding Ling was transferred to the Heilongjiang region,where is called Bei Da Huang for 12 years of labor transformation.But according to the later records of foreign scholars’ interview about Ding Ling,it is her own request to carry out labor transformation,and she is full of love for Bei Da Huang.During this period,she created Du Wanxiang,in which she expressed her loyalty and praise to the Party and the people.Along with Ding Ling’s creation,the overseas research about Ding Ling also began in the 1930 s.At the beginning of study about Ding Ling abroad,most of the works were translated and related reports about the writers,and few articles were commented on.In the prosperous period,overseas scholars began to publish critical articles to comment on Ding Ling and her works.In the 1960 s,Xia Zhiqing’s A history of mordern Chinese fiction established his position in American Sinology and created Ding Ling’s image as a leftist writer.He gave Ding Ling severe criticism,but also attracted great controversy in Sinology.After Ding Ling’s return,she has attracted the attention of a large number of overseas scholars and ushered in a new prosperous period of overseas research about Ding Ling.the academic circles begin to get rid of Xia Zhiqing’s model of studying Ding Ling under the cold war thinking,and carry on the study of Ding Ling from multiple perspectives.This also opened up a good situation for the future research about Ding Ling at home and abroad.For more than half a century,the study about Ding Ling overseas has been continuing,and has not been interrupted for some reasons,which makes up for the gap in this period of our country.Therefore,the study and translation of Ding Ling’s literature abroad is of great significance to the study of Ding Ling in Chinese academic circles.
