With the rapid development of globalization,intercultural communication has become more and more deep and countless of foreign films poured into our market.The translation of film and television works,especially Chinese subtitle translation,has become increasingly prominent.Chinese subtitle translation,as an important form of English sitcom Transformation,not only brings us entertainment but also provides an important window and media way for us to understand American culture,and the study of Chinese subtitle translation in English sitcom provides a good perspective for cross-cultural communication and development.This paper attempts to study the Chinese subtitle trans lation of English sitcom under the guidance of schema theory,and then provides concrete strategies for cross-cultural communication to reduce conflicts and misunderstandings in cultural blending.Schema theory is a kind of theory that explains how to adjust the schemata in their mind when they receive new things,to integrate the new things into the schema,and to explain,predict,organize,absorb,modify and construct the information of the outside world according to their schemata.This paper thinks that the application of schema theory in cross-cultural communication strategy research,to explain the entertainment in film and television works is very appropriate.Because the entertainment tendency of the film and television works is produced because the translator uses this audience-centered communication way to inspire the audience's original schema,and then establishes the contact between the audience and the foreign language and culture,The purpose of this comic tendency is to allow the audience to assimilate in a relatively short period of time in order to better accept the information conveyed by the foreign country,better understanding of the culture and humor in film and television works,better promote cross-cultural communication,so that the spread of the process more smoothly,this mode of communication and schema theory coincides with the principle.This article extracts the representative sitcom "Two Broken Girls" and "The Big Bang Theory" as an example,analyzes the specific cases of Chinese subtitles,and puts forward concrete feasibility suggestions for cross-cultural communication strategy,which can provide reference for cultural exchange in the process of cross-cultural communication in China.To provide the subtitle translators with specific operational options.The starting point of this thesis is to study the Chinese subtitle translation of film and television works from the perspective of schema theory.This paper aims to explore the cross-cultural communication strategies in the translation process,hoping that translators can take the most appropriate translation strategies,so that our audiences can easily watch movies and barrier-free intercultural communication.At the same time,it is hoped that through this thesis,more and more scholars will be able to attract more and more translators to pay more attention to translation strategies,so that culture can be better communicated and disseminated in cross-cultural communication.
