"Xueshantang Seal Book"is the first of "Santang Seal Book",more than 50 seal people and more than 2000 seals,which has great significance in the history of Sphragistics.This paper takes itself as the starting point and discuses it by following five parts.First,the paper explores the background of "Xueshantang Seal Book",and discusses the aesthetic consciousness of "harmony in diversity " in compilation rules and layout,and concludes that the book is attached to the historical background of the rise of literati in the Ming dynasty and the personal conditions of zhang hao,such as political career and family eminence.Secondly,the paper uses data statistics to demonstrate the characteristic of seals,and then explores the pursuit of broken and oddity in the late Ming Dynasty.Third,the paper texts seal people and works of“Xueshantang Seal Book”,through comparing“Chengqingguan Seal Book”with Xueshantang Seal Book”,and finds out 97 rerecord seals,add to 12 seal people,and explore the difference of rerecord seals,there are four aspects including broken phenomenon,endpoint,lines,and the change of the law of seal cutting,and concludes the reason of this phenomenon is the time difference cause change of the aesthetic style.Fourth,the paper investigates the author and content of preface and postscript of “Xueshantang Seal Book”,and the reasons for the change of signature in the preface and postscript,which lead for bad relationship between zhang hao and Wang guan and politics problems.At the same time,the paper explores the writing motivation and defines the overpraised phenomenon in order to explore Sphragistics idea of preface and postscript.Fifthly,the paper elaborates the value and influence of “Xueshantang Seal Book” so as to make a comprehensive systematic study,which has a certain significance for exploring the development of seal cutting in the Ming Dynasty.
