In 1976,for the first time,Richard has come up with that vocabulary has been neglected in second language teaching(Coady,j.& huckin,t.,1998),and then vocabulary teaching has gradually been valued by scholars and other educators.Carter& McCarthy(1988)emphasized the core position of vocabulary in language teaching.Our country also promulgated the curriculum standard of English teaching in the early21 st century,and put forward the corresponding request to the students ' vocabulary mastery and application ability in different learning section(the Ministry of Education,2001).While we realize the importance of vocabulary learning,we should also pay attention to effective vocabulary teaching methods.Let the students participate in the construction of the self-knowledge.However,many schools only teach students to memorize.This kind of mechanical teaching teaches students the superficial meaning of vocabulary,but not the use of it.With the development of computer technology,the electronic corpus was born.Researchers began to apply the corpus to vocabulary teaching.It was found that the corpus-based vocabulary teaching can promote vocabulary memorization and retention(Momeni,G.,2015,Ashkan,L.& Seyyedrezaei,S.H.,2016).However,although there are many empirical studies in foreign countries,in China,this kind of empirical studies start late and the number of them is relatively small,especially the research for middle school students in western China.Therefore,the purpose of this study is to explore the following two questions: 1)How to design effective corpus-based vocabulary teaching in senior high school? 2)How does corpus-based English vocabulary teaching affect senior high school students' vocabulary learning and help students preserve vocabulary ?For this reason,based on the theory of context and vocabulary learning,deep processing and lexical grammar,corpus-based vocabulary teaching case was designed using COCA corpus,self-made textbook corpus(FLTRP high school English compulsory vol.1-vol.5),and self-made teaching corpus.And then two classes were selected,one as,class 3,which was taught through corpus-based teaching method,theother as,class 4,which was taught through the explanation-example-practice vocabulary teaching.The research lasts a semester.During the time they had three tests.The first was used to help teacher select the target vocabulary.And the rest was used to test the effect.After the test,the corresponding data are collected and analyzed by SPSS.The results show that 1)To design effective corpus-based vocabulary teaching cases,we should always focus on students' learning,make full use of the retrieval function of corpus to help teachers determine the target vocabulary,select effective teaching materials,and make students learn to use vocabulary and save vocabulary in the interactive learning task.2)The test results show that the experimental group has learned to use vocabulary more appropriately than the control group.And the experimental group can preserve vocabulary much longer.
