Facial features verbs are a subclass classified according to the meaning characteristics;it is a collection of the behavior which act by facial regions of human body.This paper is established on the synchronic level of modern Chinese and combined with corpus to discusses the monosyllabic facial features verbs from their semantics,grammar and the application of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.This paper is divided into six chapters as following:Chapter 1 is the introduction,including the relevant researches'history and present situation,the contents and objectives of this study,and the final part the research method and significance of this paper.Chapter 2 firstly defines the facial features verbs in a multi-disciplinary way,and then makes a selection of the facial features verb from several dictionaries such as."TongYiCi CiLin",and finally determines the scope of this study.In chapter3,we introduce the method of semantic analysis,then extract the semantic features of monosyllabic facial features verbs in modern Chinese,list the expression of semantic features,and base on this to make a comparative analysis.In chapter 4,the facial features verbs,as one special subclass of verbs,should have the common characteristics of most verbs.Therefore,this chapter is based on the main syntactic features of verbs to discuss the syntactic features of monosyllabic facial features verbs in modern Chinese detailedly.Chapter 5 is about the application of teaching Chinese as a foreignlanguage.Based on the previous study of the semantic and syntax of the monosyllabic facial features verbs in modern Chinese,this paper further analysis the difficulties that may arise in teaching Chinese as a foreign language,and discuss the teaching methods of the monosyllabic facial features verbs.Last chapter is the peroration which makes a comprehensive summary of the study of the monosyllabic facial features verbs in modern Chinese.
