As the traditional way to record history and inherite culture,stone tablet inscriptions provide a large number of original and reliable research materials for literature,classics,history,philology,folklore,ethnology,religion and so on.Stone tablet inscriptions’ calligraphy is also the focus of research and learning by ancient calligraphers.From Jin dynasty to tang dynasty,stone tablet inscriptions had been going from low gradually to prosperity,along with the calligraphy increasingly mature.And the composition came from the pursuit of simple natural and childlike to form of unified specification,harmony and balance.And there are a lot of details worth pondering at the same time.This paper selects the original stone tablet inscriptions,the original rubbings or the whole picture as the main materials for the study on the calligraphic composition from Jin dynasty to Tang dynasty,with other pictures and text information for references.The first chapter introduces the basic general situation of the inscriptions from the aspects of the generation,production,shape and the standard,and expounds the rheological process of the calligraphy from Jin dynasty to Tang dynasty.The second chapter is the key section of the article,firstly,it narrates styles of composition with typical stone tablet inscriptions that divided into three categories which are regular script,cursive script and multiple script from Jin dynasty to Tang dynasty.Secondly,it interprets the relations between writing technique,characters’ structure and composition,and then analyzes the unity of the stone tablet.Finally,it summarizes the composition style evolution of different regions and periods.The third chapter analyzes the origin from the perspective of the subjective and objective aspects,compares calligraphic composition of stone tablet inscriptions with other stone carvings in the same era,accounts the influence of later stone tablet inscriptions and other calligraphy,and explores the significance of contemporary calligraphy creation.
