As a novel way of teaching,text-based drama teaching plays a positive impact on the English subject in primary schools.In primary English text-based drama teaching,the story telling material is adapted into short plays and then students can enjoy the interest of English learning with the background of pleasant class atmosphere in a way of creating scenarios and simulating the real language environment.Effective text-based drama teaching can deepen students’ understanding of the basic knowledge and exercise students’ oral expression and language application ability.In addition,it fully highlights the student’s main body status and the sense of cooperation among students from the choice of roles to the presentation of performance,which improves the quality of English teaching to a certain extent.However,there are still many problems in the course of text-based drama teaching for primary school English teachers,deserving our reflection.This paper mainly adopts the literature method,case study method and survey method.On the basis of the previous studies and the current situation,the author combined with her practice experience to do the survey which was carried out on B primary school with 200 students from three,four,five to six grade and 5 primary school English teachers.The author collected relevant teaching cases and understood the application situation of primary school English text-based drama teaching.Through investigation,we find that there are some problems in primary school English text-based drama teaching such as narrow teaching content,unreasonable teaching implementation,imperfect teaching function and single teaching evaluation.In view of the problems existed in primary school English text-based drama teaching,the author thinks that the reasons are the following:Bureau of primary school English text-based drama phenomenon,lack of the concept knowledge in text-based drama teaching,the heavy burden on teachers and students,lack of dynamically generation with too strong prediction and lack of the cultivation of students’ personality.On this basis,this study puts forward relevant suggestions and reflections from four aspects of content,implementation,function and evaluation of text-based drama teaching,hoping to provide some references for primary school English teachers.First of all,text-based drama teaching content should reflect its diversity,including the richness in script material as well as the performance quality,storytelling quality,life quality and humorous quality in script;secondly,the text-based drama teaching implementation teaching should highlight the dominant position of students and the good relations between the presupposition and generation and pay attention to the cultivation of students’ character.Then,the function of the text-based drama teaching is to improve students’language ability,performance ability and the experience of cultural atmosphere;finally,the text-based drama teaching evaluation should be set up with multi-evaluation models and emphasis on the effectiveness and the process of evaluation.
