The training reform of English teachers in primary school is imminent.From the promotion of quality education in 1999 and the reform of basic education curriculum in 2001 to the plan of teacher education development issued by the Ministry of Education in 2018-2022,the requirements in professionalization,teaching ability and quality of basic education teachers are getting higher and higher.Therefore,it is necessary to reform the traditional teacher training model.English drama uses drama as a tool for English study,so that performers can participate in it.Performers learn English by the way of stage performances,which promotes cultural and verbal understanding effectively and meets the demand of improving teachers' English language skills.Meanwhile,drama,widely used in the multiple subjects in primary school teaching for its flexible form,has great applicability and has been adopted by many developed countries.The application of English drama to primary school English teacher training has a good effect on English teachers' language ability and teaching ability.In order to have an effective and reproducible teaching of English drama application,this paper further studies and demonstrates the application of English drama,hoping that it can be promoted on a larger scale.This paper starts from the theoretical basis of the application of English drama,and learn the motivation,characteristics and needs of the educated subjects through the study of adult learning theory.This theory provides guidance for the implementation of the English drama model.By studying the theory of constructivism,the paper discusses the cognitive rules,construction of English learning,and the ideal environment of English learning.It provides the theoretical support for the English drama curriculum and the program design.What's more,combined with the actual situation of primary school English teacher training,the feasibility of applying English drama to the organization and training conditions of primary school English teacher training is analyzed.In the practical research module of English drama applied to primary school English teacher training,firstly,the educational characteristics of English subjects are analyzed.From the regular pattern and characteristics of language education,the educational related elements of the second language are analyzed,and the teachers' needs and English drama understanding are analyzed rigorously.Also,the designing the course content,teaching methods and evaluation methods of English drama application according to the teaching process are also discussed;By this way,the paper explores the theoretical connection between the practice of English drama and training on primary school English teachers,and extends the function of cross-cultural education,English ability of English drama,English teaching method applications,and teacher internationalization.
