Inattentional Blindness(IB)is a phenomenon to describe people to be unaware of other stimuli when they are focusing on a stimuli or events.Previous scholars did a lot researches to find out what can affect IB,includes the characteristics of unexpected stimuli, personality, mood state, expectation and so on.Previous studies emphasize the physical characteristics of unexpected stimuli, but ignore ecological significance. And when study on the relation between emotion and IB,scholars usually choose emotion elicitation or emotional valence separately. This paper choose ecological indicator, emotion elicitation and emotional valence to investigate how they affect IB.This paper includes two experiments which based on the sustained IB paradigm from Most. The first experiment is to study the effect of ecology on IB.In this experiment, ecological unexpected stimuli is divided into two levels: emotio nal valance and detail.More specifically, emotional valance includes positive, negative and neutral, and detail includes circle, abstract faces and real faces. The second experiment is based on the first study, eliciting emotional state to find out the effect of emotion state and emotional valence on IB.The main findings are as following:(1)The more ecological the unexpected stimulus are,the lower IB rate is.(2)Emotion elicitation affect IB.Individuals on positive and negative mood can take notice of unexpected stimulus, that is to say,IB rate is low.(3)Mood congruent affect can be found in this experiment. When emotion elicitation is positive, subjects are easier to perceive positive faces than other situation. When emotion elicitation is negative, subjects are easier to perceive negative faces than other situation.(4)Results support the Synthetic reaction model. The perception of unexpected stimulus is affected by both down-top cognitive processing and top-down cognitive processing.
