Study On The Interdepartmental Differences Of Moral Foundation

Based on Haidt's Moral Foundation Theory,this study qualitatively analyzes the content of Chinese traditional and modern morality,and constructs a table of China's moral baseline classification framework.By analyzing the ethical(unethical)events of adolescents and their parents in their daily life and then coding and analyzing the reported daily moral events,we can deduce the types of moral Foundation behind the moral events reported by adolescents and their parents to analyze the types of benchmark they hold,and the characteristics of their moral benchmark,and compare the generational differences between the two generations' moral foundations.The main results of this study are: 1.In addition to chastity,the moral foundation in the context of Chinese culture covers the other five moral foundation in Haidt's moral foundation theory,including self-disciplined moral foundation so there are six sets of moral foundations in each of the groups of moral foundations.The number of data coding reference points for the importance of indicators,in descending order of importance: care> justice> self-discipline> loyalty> authority> freedom.2.Adolescent moral foundation features:1)According to the frequency of reporting on corresponding events of each type of moral foundation,we can see that the order of importance of adolescents to each category of moral foundation is: Care> Justice> Self-discipline> Freedom> Loyalty> Authority.Adolescents believe that caring and fairness are far more important than the other four groups of moral foundations,and that adolescents of different genders,grades and sources have different levels of emphasis on each group of moral foundations.2)Adolescents of different grades have different degrees of emphasis on different types of ethical benchmarks.In the type of care,grade two pay more attention than grade one and senior two adolescents.On the Justice type,grade one and senior one pay more attention than grade two adolescents;On the Authority type,Grade two is higher than grade one teenagers and senior one teenagers;in terms of freedom type,senior two students attach more attention than teenager in first grade.In terms of loyalty and self-discipline,there is no difference between grades.3)Adolescents of different genders have different levels of emphasis on different types of moral foundations.Female adolescents place more emphasis on care than male adolescents,while male adolescents place greater emphasis on loyalty and self-discipline than female adolescents do.There are no gender differences in the three sets of moral foundations of justice,authority and freedom.4)Adolescents from different places have different degrees of emphasis on different types of moral foundations.Rural teens pay more attention to freedom type than urban teens do,while there are no differences in other types.3.Characteristics of Adult Moral Reference: Adults pay more attention to the three types of moral Foundation of care,justice and self-discipline.The order of importance of adults to each category of moral reference is: Caring> Justice> Self-discipline> Authority> Loyalty> Freedom.Adults of different genders,occupations and educational attainments did not differ in their emphasis on moral foundation.4.There are differences in the order of importance of adolescents and their parents for each of the moral foundation types.Differences between adolescents and parents are similar irrespective of school type,place of origin and grade,with adolescents placing more emphasis on care and fairness than their parents,while parents tend to be more loyal,authoritative and self-disciplined than adolescents.In the freedom type,there is no difference between adolescents and parents.
